Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
The short version
- Chiply works without an account. If you don't sign in, your game data stays on your iPhone.
- Photos, live scans and the chip counting all stay on your iPhone. We never receive a photo.
- If you sign in with Apple and have Chiply Pro, your game data (not photos) is synced to our server so it can be on more than one iPhone.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We don't sell or share your data.
- You can delete all cloud data in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account, or Settings → Reset all data → Delete everywhere.
This policy covers the Chiply app for iPhone and this website. Chiply is made by Genwave LLC (“we”, “us”).
Data on your iPhone
Chiply keeps your games in a database on your iPhone. This includes players, chip sets, buy-ins, chip counts, settlement results, app settings, and the photos and live scans you take to count chips.
Chiply asks for access to the camera to count chips. To pick an existing photo, Chiply uses the iOS photo picker: Chiply gets only the photos you pick and has no access to the rest of your library. The chip counting model runs on your iPhone, and photos and scans are never uploaded, even when sync is on.
To make the counting better, Chiply keeps the original photos and a few frames from each live scan with the counts you confirmed. These stay on your iPhone. They leave it only if you export them yourself.
Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional. You need it only to sync your games. When you sign in with Apple, we receive and store:
- A user identifier from Apple. It is a random ID that Apple makes for Chiply. It is not your Apple ID.
- An email address, if you share one. Apple lets you share your real email or a private relay address (“Hide My Email”) that forwards to you. We don't use it for marketing.
- Session data. When you sign in, the app gets a random session token. The app keeps it in the iOS Keychain. Our server keeps only a hash of it, with the time it was made. A session ends after 180 days or when you sign out.
- An Apple sign-in token, if Apple gives us one. We use it only to cancel the sign-in with Apple when you delete your account.
Apple can also share your name. We don't store it on our server.
Synced game data
Sync is part of Chiply Pro. When you are signed in and have Pro, Chiply copies your game data to our server and keeps it the same on each iPhone where you sign in. The synced data is:
- Player names
- Chip sets: the colors and their values
- Games, the players in each game, and the starting stack
- Buy-ins and the chips in each buy-in
- Chip counts and the counted stacks (numbers only, no images)
- Settlements: who pays whom and how much
- App settings
Photos, live scans and scan frames are not synced. A count that came from a photo is synced as numbers.
If you stop having Pro, sync stops. The copy on our server stays until you delete it (see below), and sync starts again if you get Pro again.
Chiply Pro purchases
Chiply Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through Apple. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details.
If you buy or restore Pro while you are signed in, the app sends us the transaction ID. We check it with Apple and store the transaction ID, the original transaction ID, the product, the purchase date and whether it was a test purchase. If Apple tells us that a purchase was refunded or revoked, we store that date too.
Apple also sends our server a notice when a purchase is refunded or revoked. These notices hold transaction data, not your name or email.
While Pro is free for a limited time, you don't need to buy anything, and there is no purchase record.
What we don't do
- No analytics, no crash reporting services and no advertising, in the app or on this website. This website sets no cookies.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own use.
- We don't look at your game data except to keep the service working or when you ask us for help.
Where the data is stored
Our server runs on Cloudflare. Accounts, synced game data and purchase records are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. All traffic between the app and the server uses HTTPS.
When the app starts, it also asks our server for public settings, such as the end date of the free Pro offer. This request carries no personal data. Like every web request, it reaches Cloudflare with your IP address. We don't store IP addresses in our database. Cloudflare can process them to deliver and protect the service, as its privacy policy describes.
The only other company involved is Apple, for Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases. Cloudflare and Apple can process data in the United States and other countries.
Keeping and deleting data
Delete your account
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your account, your sessions, all your synced game data and your purchase records from our server. The games on your iPhone stay. Where we can, it also cancels the sign-in with Apple. It can't be undone. The database keeps an internal recovery history for up to 30 days, after which the deleted data is gone from it too.
Your purchase of Chiply Pro stays with your Apple ID. Use Restore Purchases in the app to get Pro back.
You can also stop using Sign in with Apple for Chiply in the iOS Settings app: tap your name, then Sign in with Apple.
Delete games and data
- Swipe left on a game to delete it. If sync is on, the deletion syncs too.
- Settings → Reset all data. If you are signed out, it deletes all Chiply data on this iPhone. If you are signed in, you choose: Delete everywhere deletes your game data on this iPhone and on our server (this needs an internet connection and works without Pro), or Sign out and delete on this iPhone keeps the copy on our server, and signing in again brings it back. Photos on the iPhone are deleted in both cases.
- Deleting the app also deletes all its data on the iPhone.
Export
Settings → Data lets you export your history (JSON), results (CSV), or the training data (a ZIP with your original photos). The file opens in the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes. We don't get a copy.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, through the contact below. Account deletion in the app does this at once.
Children
Chiply is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has made an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If Chiply changes the way it handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
